Vacation in the Pantanels

Where we stayed in Puerta Suarez, "El Pantanal Resort."

At the resort where we were staying we saw these Iguana out sunning themselves. When we mentioned this to the owner, he said he had never seen them there before. During our stay at the resort we went on a trip on horseback and was taken to this cave. Here you can see Dan going down into the hole.

This is a view from the other side of the cave.
Dan and our guide in the cave.
This was a strange bird we saw and I took a picture of it. I have no idea what it was but it was very similar to a robin.
The Bolivian Navy. We saw only three small boats and about nine guys. Most of them were just doing maintenance or doing their laundry. They let us climb up on one of the boats and wander around.

This is the boat that we climbed around on.

Preparing to go horseback riding.

Puerta Suarez, along the dock.

A pavilion which has been constructed in Puerta Suarez for picnicking and family gatherings.

Another view of the pavilion, along the Paraguay river, right in the heart of the Pantanal.

In Corumba, Brazil we visited a home where a man spends his days making statues that depict things from the Bible.

This statue is of Christ being judged and sentenced to death.
A walled statue of the Last Supper.

These pigs were in a small pen just next door to the house we ate lunch at.

This is the man that took us out into the river to fish for piranha and to get a close up view of the Caimen and gators.
This is a picture of the "Christo" in Corumba, Brazil.
This is a picture from up on top the hill by the Christo, looking down on Corumba.

We went on a boat ride down the Paraguay river and this is a picture taken of a man fishing.

This is the house just next door to the place that we ate our supper the day we went on our safari.
This is the kitchen where I guide made us lunch.
This is another house that was next door to the house that our guide lived in.

Here are the boats along the shore as men prepare to go out fishing. It was one of these boats that we got on to go out in the river that was infested with piranha and gators.

This is the piranha that our guide caught.
See it's teeth!
A house across the street from our guides house.

One of many birds in the Pantanal.

There are "many" giant storks in the Pantanal.

This is a type of hawk very common in the Pantanal.

A Toucan.
Deer....
This part of the area that we paddled down the river.
This picture turned out well....................

We saw cucabarra more than anything on the safari. They are "big" rats!
Here is a parrot...
This is a picture looking out of the truck.
More capabarra

A Kingfisher.....

Caimen sunning themselves.....

This is the train that we rode on from Santa Cruz to Puerta Suarez and back.
